Bazaar

A picture of my stuff on location at a local bazaar - hmmm. I think the table cloth needs some ironing!

Reclaimed Toy Project

Well here is the start of a new reclaim/reuse project. These are a variety of super hero action figures that I will be spray painting shiny silver. I can't share the rest until the final project is done but it should be pretty cool!

Halloween Blocks etc.

Well we've finally all finished our Halloween blocks. Stay tuned for photos!
I've decided to try the "quilt as you go" technique on them using free motion quilting. It took awhile to figure it out for my machine. It involved going through every single number on my tension to find the magic spot where I didn't get "eye-lashing" on the back of the quilt.
I've also started a photo memory quilt for a friend. I've finished most of the blocks and soon enough I will be joining the blocks together.

Group Project No. 2

Yes we are starting a new project. No I am not done the last one.
The challenge? To make four identical blocks in a Halloween theme, for six months. We give each person in the group one of the four identical blocks, and they each give us one of theirs!
I started with this block based off a tutorial I found here barn bats by ohfransson but I got a bit stuck trying to make it work with our block size.

Speaking of block size, why am I so afraid to trim my blocks to the right size? Every one else does, but I keep thinking, what if I make this to small and ruin the block, or it's not square?!
So here are the blocks so far! My first was the pumpkin on green on the top far right. My second was the mummy and my third was the barn bats.

Next up is of course a secret, but I will be paper piecing again.

Funky Flower Find

I like to haunt the local second hand stores - one more then others. Many of my 'finds' have been purchased from there, including lamps, side tables, kitchen items and lately, "office" clothing for the mister and his new job!
During Christmas they had sales prices going on 25% the first week of December, 50% of the next and of course 75% off the third week! I managed to nab a completed quilt top with some funky flowers hand stitched on with a blanket stitch. I paid $2.50 for a queen size quilt!
Last week after some help basting it from my quilty friend, I finished it off and boy am I in love!

So are Casey and Tucker, they could not stay off the quilt|

Finished Freakshow Quilt

Finished project

To see the history of this quilt project see Freakshow Quilt which tells how I started this quilt. This was a long journey, and I still need to go back and patch a few spots where the material frayed a bit on washing. I can't say how much I learned making this quilt! PS. the name Freakshow came about because this is a suzuki samurai 4x4 but the motor is a toyota.

Casey, pretending to be a cat.

More Odds and Ends

A few more odd's and ends projects. Some tooth fairy pillows I made for a friend of mine... needs some tweaking though, as I'm not liking the lips. The lips hold the tooth/change and they may not be strong enough if one was to use all change.. but who am I kidding, aren't kids getting bills these day instead of the quarter we got growing up?
These are a bit girly as well. I'd love to figure out something a bit more masculine. Perhaps something with wire in the wings so they aren't so frilly!

I'm also working on some project bags for a friend (shhhhh it's a secret) who I'm going to visit in November. She knits up a storm but having some bags to protect the wool projects from fading and dust is important. Apparently knitter's work on multiple projects too! I feel a bit less guilty about my many projects!

I also spent 8 weeks or so attending an agility course with Tucker, the wonder dog. He excelled at the class, but he was actually to fast and we actually had to work on slowing him down. And as a fat lady, I could not.keep.up. But still so much fun. If you have the chance, join agility! There were all kinds of dogs, from small fluffy puppies to old fat labs!
